Ryan Honl of
Valparaiso, Ind., is a district sales manager for Johnson & Johnson, a
position he has held since 2004. As district sales manager of ophthalmic
pharmaceuticals for Vistakon Pharmaceuticals, a Johnson & Johnson
company, Ryan Honl is responsible for supervising 10 sales representatives
covering a 14-state territory.
In this position, Ryan Honl has earned several recognitions,
including the 2006 J&J Global Standards of Leadership Award. Ryan Honl’s
district was named number one in the nation for overall sales by the company in
2005.
Before joining Johnson and Johnson, Ryan Honl sold
ophthalmic pharmaceuticals for Santen Inc., a company acquired by Johnson and
Johnson in 2004. As district sales manager, a position he held from September
2003 to February 2004, Ryan Honl supervised nine sales representatives, exceeded
sales quotas and completed a management training course with the company.
Ryan Honl also worked as sales training manager for
ophthalmic pharmaceuticals for Santen Inc. from May 2002 to September 2003. In
this position, Ryan Honl was responsible for the training of a national sales
force of 64 representatives, working with them in the field and in the
classroom. Ryan Honl planned and executed advanced sales training classes and
worked extensively with new company hires, leading training classes and following
up with new sales employees after training.
Ryan Honl started his tenure with Santen Inc. as a specialty
pharmaceutical sales representative of ophthalmic pharmaceuticals, a position
he held from April 2000 to May 2002. In this position, Ryan Honl managed about
200 accounts, building relationships with ophthalmologists that led to his
being named Sales Representative of the Quarter for the southeast region for
the third and fourth quarters of 2001. Ryan Honl also had the highest market
share in the sales force for the company’s leading anti-infective product for
the first quarter of 2002.
Ryan Honl began his pharmaceutical sales career as a sales
representative for Warner Chilcott, where he worked from January 1999 to April
2000, managing about 200 accounts with women’s health, urology and cardiology
doctors. In this position, Ryan Honl moved the company’s market share from an
underperforming territory to the top 50 percent within six months of his
hiring.
Before entering the field of pharmaceutical sales, Ryan Honl
spent nine years as a commissioned officer in the United States Army, serving
as the leader of a parachute infantry platoon and a Brigade Assistant
Operations Officer. Ryan Honl, who enlisted in the military upon graduating
from high school, participated in Operation Desert Shield/Storm in the Corps of
Engineers, serving in Saudi Arabia and Iraq. He was appointed by the Secretary
of Defense to attend the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY,
where he graduated in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in general engineering,
French and Chinese.
Ryan Honl is an
animal lover who teaches Sunday school at his church, volunteers at a local
homeless shelter and enjoys spending time with his two daughters.
